What the test actually is

The Life in the UK Test in one minute

It is the statutory Knowledge of Language and Life test. You need it for Indefinite Leave to Remain or for British citizenship.

Before you download

Is this the official test?

No. This is a practice app made by an independent developer. The official Life in the UK Test is booked through the government service and sat at an approved test centre. This app is not affiliated with the UK Government or the Home Office.

Are these the real test questions?

No. The real questions are not published. Our 930 questions are written from the official study material, Life in the United Kingdom: A Guide for New Residents (3rd edition), which is the only legitimate source the real test draws on.

How many questions are in the test, and how long do I get?

The real test has 24 questions and you have 45 minutes. The Mock exam mode uses exactly the same format.

What is the pass mark?

You need 75%, which is 18 correct answers out of 24. The result is given as pass or fail only. You are not told your score.

Is the app free?

Yes. The app is free and supported by ads. There are no in-app purchases and no subscription.

Do I need an internet connection?

Only for the first launch. After that the whole question bank is on your device, so you can study offline. Ads need a connection to load.

Which languages does it support?

Thirteen: English, Hindi, Punjabi, Polish, Urdu, Romanian, Italian, Bengali, German, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Spanish and French. Questions always show English first, with your language beneath.

What happens if I fail?

You can book the test again. There is a waiting period of seven days between attempts, and you pay the fee each time. Use Weak spots mode to work through what you missed before you rebook.
